Analysis of a parabolic cross-diffusion population model without self-diffusion

Abstract The global existence of non-negative weak solutions to a strongly coupled parabolic system arising in population dynamics is shown. The cross-diffusion terms are allowed to be arbitrarily large, whereas the self-diffusion terms are assumed to disappear. The last assumption complicates the analysis since these terms usually provide H 1 estimates of the solutions. The existence proof is based on a positivity-preserving backward Euler–Galerkin approximation, discrete entropy estimates, and L 1 weak compactness arguments. Con la sentenza n. 16253/2020 la Suprema Corte ha affermato che l’assenza di nesso causale tra la cessazione di un appalto e il licenziamento del lavoratore integra un’ipotesi di manifesta insussistenza del fatto posto alla base del licenziamento - con conseguente applicabilità della tutela reintegratoria attenuta di cui all’art. 18, comma 5, della legge n. 300/1970 - non riconducibile, pertanto, agli altri casi in cui il giudice dichiara risolto il rapporto concedendo la sola tutela indennitaria forte (da dodici a ventiquattro mensilità).

Stackelberg equilibrium with many leaders and followers. The case of zero fixed costs

Abstract I study a version of the Stackelberg game with many identical firms in which leaders and followers use a continuous cost function with no fixed cost. Using lattice theoretical methods I provide a set of conditions that guarantee that the game has an equilibrium in pure strategies. With convex costs the model shows the same properties as a quasi-competitive Cournot model. The same happens with concave costs, but only when the number of followers is small. When this number is large the leaders preempt entry. I study the comparative statics and the limit behavior of the equilibrium and I show how the main determinants of market structure interact. La scuola di architettura di Palermo, sin dalla sua fondazione nel 1779, con la creazione della cattedra di Architettura civile affidata a Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia, era divenuta inevitabilmente il luogo di verifica e talvolta di esplorazione dei temi legati alla pratica professionale e, quindi, all’arte del costruire. The School of Architecture of Palermo since its founding in 1779 with the creation of the chair of Civil Architecture entrusted to Joseph Venantius Marvuglia has become the place of testing exploration of issues related to professional practice and the art of building. Carlo Giachery Professor of Static and Civil Architecture from 1837 to 1865 is the first to feel the deep crisis of the educational system of the school of architecture of Palermo. For him architecture and applied sciences to architecture found in their stereotomy confirmation of the existence of correspondent relationships in their evolutionary process. The notion of stereotomy taken by Carlo Giachery in teaching reconnects directly to the noble art of coupe des pierres. Taken together the teaching aids used to show a theoretical advance that Giachery inclined in the direction of elasticity of the materials. Noting the outcomes of teaching his students have the clear perception of how the teaching on stereotomy is the compendium of all the French tradition on the subject. With the establishment of the School of Application for Engineers and Architects in 1866 the steretomia seems to gradually lose interest in favor of the prevailing metal construction.
